Ingredients/Components

  • vanilla - 1/2 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • corn syrup - 1/2 c
  • margarine - 1/2 c
  • firmly packed light brown sugar - 1 c
  • freshly popped corn - 4 qt

How to make caramel popcorn:

Spread popcorn in a large, shallow roasting pan. Stir sugar, margarine, corn syrup and salt. Cook over medium heat until mixture boils. Continue cooking, without stirring, 5 minutes. Stir in vanilla and baking soda. Pour corn syrup mixture over popcorn. Bake at 250°, uncovered, 1 hour. Break apart and cool.
