Ingredients/Components
- butter, softened - 1/2 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- confectioners sugar - 1 c
- almond extract
- shortening - 1/2 c
- red food coloring - 1/2 tsp
How to make candy cane cookies:
Mix all ingredients; divide dough in half. Add food coloring to 1/2 of mixture. Break into small pieces; roll out to form candy canes. Twist the two colors together to form canes. Brush with beaten egg white; sprinkle with crushed peppermint stick. Bake in a 375° oven for approximately 9 minutes.Young children love these; me, too.
