Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • flour - 1/3 c
  • stick margarine - 3/4 item
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • water - 1/2 c
  • melted butter - 1/4 c
  • large, raw sweet potatoes - 2 item

How to make candied yams:

In a 1 1/2-quart baking dish, slice potatoes about 1/4-inch thick. Combine sugar, 3/4 stick margarine, water and cinnamon; bring to a boil. Pour over potatoes and bake at 300° for 45 minutes. When potatoes are tender, top with mixture of brown sugar, 1/4 cup melted butter, flour and chopped nuts mixed well. Return to oven and bake about 5 to 10 minutes.
