  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • flour - 4 c
  • brown sugar - 2 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • shortening - 1 c
  • cream of tartar - 1 tsp

How to make butterscotch cookies:

Cream sugar, eggs, shortening and vanilla. Add flour, soda, cream of tartar and nuts. Work until soft dough. Chill 3 hours. Work in enough flour to roll out. Cut in desired shapes or roll dough in small balls and press out with a floured fork onto a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 8 to 10 minutes until done.
