  • eggs - 6 item
  • vanilla
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • soda - 1/4 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • shortening - 1 c
  • plain flour - 3 c

How to make buttermilk pound cake:

Cream shortening and sugar. Add vanilla. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Sift dry ingredients together. Add alternately with buttermilk. Mix both mixtures together. Pour batter into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until done.
