Buttermilk pound cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 4 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- butter or margarine - 1/2 c
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- all-purpose flour - 3 c
- lemon extract orange works too - 1/2 tsp
How to make buttermilk pound cake:
In mixer bowl, cream together sugar, shortening and butter until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla and lemon extract. Thoroughly stir together flour and baking soda. Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition.Pour into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until tests done. Leave in pan 10 minutes. Remove from pan. Cool on rack.
Note: You may use all butter/margarine.
