Breakfast casserole
Ingredients/Components
- bell pepper optional - 1 item
- onion - 1 item
- Salt and pepper - 1 item
- eggs* - 1 doz
- sausage* - 1 lb
- of milk* - 1 c
- 7-10 slices of bread, crumbled
- 3-4 cups of cheddar cheese*
How to make breakfast casserole:
Chop onions and bell peppers. Brown sausage with onions and bell peppers. Drain. Spray casserole dish with Pam. Completely cover bottom of dish with crumbled bread. Sprinkle sausage, onions and peppers over bread crumbs.Beat eggs, milk, salt and pepper. Pour over sausage and bread. Cover top with cheddar cheese. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
To make this lower in fat, the starred (*) items can be substituted: egg beaters, turkey sausage, skim milk and fat free cheese. This can be prepared the night before and baked the following morning. Just cover dish completely and place in the refrigerator. You can also add mushrooms, olives or other ingredients to suit your preference.
