Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 5 c
- salt - 1/2 c
- vinegar - 5 c
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
- garlic powder - 1 tsp
- celery seed - 1 tsp
- mustard seed - 3 Tbsp
- turmeric
- sliced cucumbers - 1 gal
- small onions, sliced - 8 item
- green peppers, shredded - 2 item
How to make bread and butter pickles:
Sprinkle vegetables with the salt, cover with ice and let set for 3 hours. Mix the remaining ingredients and heat. Add cucumbers and bring to a boil, but do not boil. Turn a few times as they heat. Place in jars and seal.Recipe categories: American, Condiments, etc., Vegetables.
