Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 c
- vinegar - 2 c
- celery seed - 2 tsp
- turmeric - 2 tsp
- thinly sliced onions - 2 c
- green peppers, finely chopped - 4 item
- 3-inch stick cinnamon
- thinly sliced cucumbers unpeeled - 8 c
How to make bread and butter pickles:
Mix cucumbers and onions; let stand 1 hour (can stand as long as 3 hours) in salt ice water. Drain. Simmer about 20 minutes in remaining ingredients (do not boil). Pack in sterilized cans and seal. Makes 2 quarts.Recipe categories: American, Condiments, etc., Vegetables.
