Bread and butter pickles
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 4 c
- salt - 1/2 c
- water - 2 c
- vinegar - 2 qt
- celery seed - 1 Tbsp
- mustard seed - 1 Tbsp
- turmeric - 1 Tbsp
- thinly sliced onions - 1 pt
- thinly sliced cucumbers - 1 gal
How to make bread and butter pickles:
Combine cucumbers and onions. Sprinkle with salt; add water and let set for 3 hours. Drain thoroughly.Combine sugar, vinegar and spices. Bring to a boil. Add vegetables and heat all together. Pack in jars and seal.
