Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 5 c
  • salt - 1/2 c
  • cider vinegar - 5 c
  • cloves - 1/2 tsp
  • mustard seed - 2 Tbsp
  • dill seed - 2 Tbsp
  • turmeric - 1 tsp
  • onions to taste - 1 item
  • to 30 cucumbers - 25 item

How to make bread and butter pickles:

Slice pickles thin. Combine with salt. Let stand for 3 hours and drain. Combine all the other ingredients, bringing to a boil. Put in sterilized jars and seal.
