Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- vinegar - 2 Tbsp
- molasses - 1/4 c
- prepared mustard - 1 Tbsp
- small onion, chopped - 1 item
- black pepper - 1/8 tsp
- dry navy beans - 1/2 lb
- salt pork or bacon - 1/4 lb
How to make boston baked beans:
Soak beans overnight in water. Drain. Cook beans in 1-quart water until tender, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Add more hot water, if necessary. Drain and rinse with cold water. Put pork in bottom of a deep casserole. Add beans and remaining ingredients. Cover and bake at 325° for 4 hours.
