Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 5 c
- salt - 1/2 c
- cider vinegar - 5 c
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
- mustard seed - 2 Tbsp
- turmeric - 1 tsp
- large onions - 8 item
- large bell peppers - 3 item
- or 30 medium-sized cucumbers - 25 item
How to make bread and butter pickles:
Wash cucumbers and slice as thin as possible. Chop onions and peppers and combine with cucumbers and salt. Let stand 3 hours and drain. Combine vinegar, sugar and spices in large preserving kettle.
