Ingredients/Components

  • water - 8 c
  • molasses - 3/4 c
  • can beer - 1 item
  • bone-in ham - 1 item

How to make boiled ham:

Stir beer and molasses into water until dissolved, in large, 6 to 8-quart pot. Add ham and simmer on stove, uncovered, over very low heat for 2 hours.

For gravy, thicken some of the liquid. Add pepper to taste. (No salt needed for the gravy as this recipe removes salt from the ham and adds sweetness.)
