Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • Kahlua - 1/3 c
  • vanilla
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour
  • butter - 1 c
  • eggs, beaten - 4 item
  • baking powder - 1/4 tsp
  • black pepper - 3/4 tsp
  • vodka - 2 Tbsp
  • unsweetened chocolate 1 oz - 4 sq
  • chopped walnuts or toasted almonds - 1 c

How to make black russian brownies:

Line a 13 x 9-inch pan with waxed paper. Melt chocolate and butter with pepper over low heat. Remove from heat. Combine eggs, sugar and vanilla in a large bowl, beating well. Stir in cooled chocolate mixture, Kahlua and vodka. Combine flour, salt and baking powder. Add to chocolate mixture. Stir until blended. Add nuts and spread into prepared pan. Bake in a 350° oven until toothpick or cake tester inserted into center comes out clean, approximately 25 minutes. Cool on wire rack. Cut into bars. Makes approximately 30 brownies.
