Beef stroganoff
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1/4 c
- butter - 6 Tbsp
- water - 1/2 c
- pepper - 1/2 tsp
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- can cream of mushroom soup - 1 item
- can mushrooms - 1 oz
- carton dairy sour cream - 1 item
- round steak, cut into bite size strips - 2 lb
How to make beef stroganoff:
Dredge steak in flour; brown with onion in butter. Add seasonings and water; cover and simmer gently until almost tender, 40 minutes to 1 hour. Stir occasionally. Add soup and mushrooms; stir to mix. Cook gently until beef is tender, about 30 minutes. At serving time, heat mixture piping hot. Turn off and stir in sour cream. Serve over fluffy rice.This freezes well before and after cream has been added. Should you freeze with sour cream, it will look curdled until heated and stirred. It is as delicious after freezing.
