Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • eggs - 3 item
  • milk - 3/4 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • baking powder - 3 tsp
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • chopped walnuts - 3/4 c
  • lemon juice - 2 Tbsp
  • sifted all-purpose flour
  • softened butter or oleo - 3/4 c
  • mashed bananas 4 to 6 - 2 c

How to make banana-nut bread:

Heat oven to 350°. Grease and flour two 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch loaf pans.

In a medium-sized bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In a small bowl, stir lemon juice into mashed bananas. In a large bowl, mix butter and sugar together until blended. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add sifted dry ingredients to butter mixture alternately with milk. Beat well. Fold bananas and walnuts into batter. Pour into pans. Bake for 50 to 55 minutes, until tested done. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before taking from pans.
