Ingredients/Components

  • water - 1/4 c
  • 8 oz - 2 c
  • grated Parmesan cheese - 1/4 c
  • chopped onion - 1 c
  • chopped green pepper - 1 c
  • oleo or butter - 1 Tbsp
  • spaghetti, cooked and drained - 12 oz
  • dried oregano - 2 tsp
  • sliced ripe olives, drained - 1 can
  • ground beef, browned and drained optional - 1 lb
  • tomatoes with liquid, cut up - 1 can
  • mushroom pieces, cut up - 1 can
  • undiluted condensed cream of mushroom soup - 1 can

How to make baked spaghetti:

In large skillet, saute onion and green pepper in butter until tender. Add tomatoes, mushrooms, olives and oregano. Add ground beef, if desired. Simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Place half of spaghetti in greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish. Top with half of vegetable mixture. Sprinkle with 1 cup of Cheddar cheese. Repeat layers. Mix the soup and water until smooth; pour over casserole. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes, or until heated through. Yields 12 servings.
