Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 3/4 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- garlic powder - 1 tsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- grated Parmesan cheese - 1 c
- chopped onion - 2 Tbsp
- dash of pepper - 1 item
- 1 lb - 1/2 pkg
- chopped parsley - 2 Tbsp
- dried oregano - 1 tsp
- Ricotta cheese - 1 lb
- dried basil - 1 tsp
- clove garlic, crushed - 1 item
- ground chuck
- ground veal - 1/4 lb
- olive or salad oil
- Mozzarella cheese, diced - 1 lb
- canned whole tomatoes undrained
- size tomato paste - 2 cans
How to make baked lasagna:
Meatballs:1/2 lb. ground chuck1/4 lb. ground veal2 Tbsp. chopped onion1 clove garlic, crushed2 Tbsp. chopped parsley1 tsp. dried oregano3/4 tsp. salt dash of pepper2 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese1 egg Tomato Sauce:1/4 c. olive or salad oil1/4 c. chopped onion1 clove garlic, crushed2 3/4 c. canned whole tomatoes (undrained)2 cans (6 oz. size) tomato paste2 tsp. dried oregano1 tsp. dried basil1 Tbsp. sugar2 tsp. salt1 tsp. garlic powder1/4 tsp. pepper Meatballs: In medium bowl combine all ingredients; toss lightly to mix well. With teaspoon, shape mixture into 30 balls, each 3/4 inch in diameter.Sauce: In hot oil in large, heavy skillet, brown meatballs; remove. Add onions and garlic. Saute 5 minutes.
Add rest of sauce ingredients with 1/2 cup water and meatballs; stir to mix. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally. Heat oven to 350°. Grease a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish. Cook lasagna as label directs. Drain; rinse in water.
In baking dish, layer half the ingredients: lasagna, Mozzarella, Ricotta, tomato sauce with meatballs and Parmesan cheese. Repeat. Bake 30 to 35 minutes. Makes 6 servings.
