Ingredients/Components

  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • can tomato sauce - 1 oz
  • can mushroom pieces - 1 oz
  • sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • dried oregano - 1/2 tsp
  • dried basil - 1/2 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • garlic powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Bisquick - 2 c
  • milk - 1/2 c
  • egg - 1 item
  • slices American cheese - 8 item
  • Parmesan cheese - 1/4 c

How to make easy italian casserole:

Cook and stir beef and onion until browned. Stir in sauce, mushrooms, sugar and spices, stirring constantly and then occasionally for 10 minutes.

Heat oven to 400°. Grease baking dish (8 x 8 x 2-inch). Mix baking mix, milk and egg. Spread half in pan. Top with 4 cheese slices. Spoon beef mixture over cheese. Top with 4 slices of cheese. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Drop remaining dough by spoonfuls onto cheese. Bake until light brown, about 20 minutes.
