  • sugar - 1 c
  • eggs - 6 item
  • vanilla - 2 tsp
  • flour - 8 c
  • butter - 1/2 lb
  • raisins - 1 item
  • dry yeast - 2 pkg
  • lukewarm water - 1/2 c
  • scalded milk - 1 c

How to make babka:

Dissolve yeast in water. Heat milk with butter and sugar. Add half the flour, eggs and vanilla. Add rest of flour. Let rise until double in quantity; knead and let rise again. Wash with milk and egg on top. Bake at 375° for 10 minutes; then at 325° for 50 minutes.
