Au gratin potatoes
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- butter - 1/4 c
- paprika - 1 item
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- bread crumbs - 1/4 c
- potatoes - 2 lb
- medium onion, chopped - 1 item
- Cheddar cheese, shredded - 12 oz
How to make au gratin potatoes:
Boil potatoes until tender (approximately 25 minutes). Cut potatoes into 1/8-inch slices. Cook onion and butter in 2-quart saucepan until onion is tender. Stir in flour, pepper and salt. Cook over low heat until bubbly. Add milk and 3/4 of the cheese. Heat to boiling. Boil and stir for 1 minute.Place potatoes in casserole dish. Pour sauce on potatoes. Bake, uncovered, at 375° for 1 hour. Mix remaining cheese with bread crumbs. Sprinkle over potatoes. Sprinkle with paprika. Bake, uncovered, until top turns brown and bubbly (approximately 15 minutes).
