Applesauce cake(fruit cake)

Ingredients/Components

• sugar - 2 c
• cinnamon - 2 tsp
• eggs - 2 item
• vanilla - 1 tsp
• nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
• baking soda
• finely chopped walnuts - 1 c
• hot water - 1 Tbsp
• cloves - 1 tsp
• seedless raisins - 1 lb
• allspice - 1 tsp
• unsweetened applesauce - 2 c
• strawberry preserves - 1/2 pt
• flour use 1 c - 4 c
• butter and shortening - 1 c
• small jar maraschino cherries, sliced in half - 1 item

How to make applesauce cake(fruit cake):

Cream butter and shortening with sugar. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Mix in order given. Bake in floured and greased tube cake pan at 350° for 1 3/4 hours or until done. Cake can be baked slower. It is moist and weighs about 5 pounds.
