Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- cornstarch - 1 c
- lemon juice - 3/4 Tbsp
- ground cinnamon - 2 tsp
- ground nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- tart apples, peeled and sliced - 5 to
- or 3 drops yellow food coloring - 2 item
How to make apple pie filling:
Blend first four ingredients and 1 teaspoon salt. Stir 10 cups of water in apples. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Add lemon juice and coloring. Put in pint jars and boil in bath water 15 minutes; quart jars for 20 minutes. Makes 6 quarts.Recipe categories: Pie, Pies and tarts, Cake fillings and frostings.
