Apple dumplings
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- cinnamon - 1/4 tsp
- water - 2 c
- stick oleo - 1 item
- or 6 slices apples - 5 item
- shortening - 3/4 c
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- milk - 1/2 c
- cinnamon and sugar - 1 item
How to make apple dumplings:
Combine sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, water and oleo to make syrup. Simmer while preparing rest of recipe. Peel and slice apples. Cream shortening into the flour and add the other ingredients. Divide the dough in 6 parts, roll each out, put apples in center, sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar and fold dough around the apples, sealing them. Place the 6 in a 9 x 13-inch pan. Pour the syrup over the dumplings and bake at 370° for 35 minutes. Will serve 12. Very rich, very good.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, Apple.
