Ingredients/Components

• sugar - 1 c
• cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
• salt - 1/2 tsp
• flour - 1 c
• baking soda - 1/2 tsp
• egg - 1 item
• shortening - 1/2 c
• nutmeats optional - 1/2 c
• diced apples - 3 c

How to make apple cake:

Beat together the shortening and sugar. Add the egg; beat until creamy. Add flour, soda and salt to mixture; mix well on low speed. Fold in apples and nuts. Bake in ungreased 8 x 8-inch pan at 350° for 45 minutes. No icing is needed.
