Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 2 tsp
- milk - 1/4 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- brown sugar
- oil
- soda - 1 tsp
- all-purpose flour - 3 c
- margarine - 1/2 c
- pecans - 1 c
- Sift together flour, salt and soda
- apples, thinly sliced and chopped - 3 c
How to make apple cake:
Topping:1 c. brown sugar1/2 c. margarine1/4 c. milk Blend together oil, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Sift together flour, salt and soda. Mix in gradually with oil mixture. Fold in pecans and apples. Pour into well-greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 350° for 1 hour.Topping: Boil brown sugar, margarine and milk together for 3 minutes. Pour over hot cake and let stand 1 hour before removing cake from pan.Variations: (1) Add 1/2 teaspoon each of cinnamon, allspice and cloves.
(2) Frost with cream cheese frosting.
(3) Bake in layers or in a sheet cake pan.
