Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 1/4 tsp
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1/2 c
- flour - 2 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- finely chopped apples - 2 c
How to make apple bread:
Heat oven to 350°. Grease and flour a loaf pan (9 x 5 x 3-inches or 2 small ones). Mix 1 cup sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla. Cream well. Stir in flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Stir in apples and nuts. Spread in pan. Mix 1 tablespoon sugar and the cinnamon. Sprinkle over the batter. Bake until it tests done, 50 to 60 minutes. Immediately remove from pan and thoroughly cool.
