Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/4 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 2 c
- baking powder - 3 tsp
- shortening - 1 c
- unsifted flour - 5 c
- warm water - 2 Tbsp
- dry yeast - 1 pkg
How to make angel biscuits:
Dissolve yeast in water. Sift flour along with dry ingredients. Add shortening and cut in with a knife or pastry cutter. Add yeast to buttermilk and mix thoroughly.Combine liquid and dry ingredients. Roll dough as for biscuits, cut to desired size and bake for 10 minutes in a 450° oven. Unused dough may be covered and kept in refrigerator.
