Brown sugar coffee cake
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
- dairy sour cream - 1 c
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- firmly packed brown sugar - 2 c
- egg, well beaten - 1 item
- pecans, finely chopped - 1/2 c
- butter/margarine - 1/2 c
How to make brown sugar coffee cake:
Combine flour, sugar and salt. Cut in butter until like fine meal. Spread 2 1/2 cups of the mixture evenly in the bottom of a greased 7 x 11 x 2-inch baking pan. Blend soda and nutmeg into remaining flour-sugar-butter mixture. Combine egg and sour cream. Stir into flour mixture until just blended. Spoon over crumb mixture in pan. Sprinkle nuts on top. Bake at 350° for 40 minutes. Check for doneness.A family favorite! The crunchy bottom crust is yummy!
