  • sugar - 1/4 c
  • salt - 1 2
  • flour - 5 c
  • melted margarine - 1/4 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 2 c
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • shortening - 1 c
  • warm water - 2 Tbsp
  • dry yeast - 1 pkg

How to make angel biscuits:

Sift dry ingredients together. Blend in shortening. Dissolve yeast in water; let set 5 minutes. Add buttermilk. Add yeast and buttermilk to flour mixture. Mix well. Turn out on slightly floured board; roll or pat to desired thickness and cut into biscuits. Dip tops in melted margarine and place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 450° for 12 minutes.
