Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/4 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 5 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 2 c
- baking powder - 3 tsp
- warm water - 4 Tbsp
- Crisco shortening - 3/4 c
- dry yeast
How to make angel biscuits:
Sift dry ingredients and cut in Crisco until it looks like coarse meal. Dissolve yeast in warm water and add to dry ingredients gently. Pour in buttermilk and work to a nice dough. Roll out about 1/4 inch on a floured board and cut with biscuit cutters. Dip in melted butter and place in pans, arranging biscuits as Parker House rolls. Freeze and bake directly from the freezer at 400° for 15 minutes. (Need not rise.)Recipe categories: Breads, Rolls/biscuits, Yeast breads.
