Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 c
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • cornstarch - 1/4 c
  • water - 3 c
  • nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
  • margarine - 1/2 c
  • lemon extract - 1/2 tsp
  • large apples - 3 item
  • very large yams - 2 item

How to make yam and apple bake:

Peel yams after cooking. Steam 1/2-inch yam slices with 1 cup of water. Do not overcook. Cut apples in 1/2-inch slices. Mix sugar, cornstarch, 2 cups of water and margarine in a heavy pan until thick. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and lemon extract. In a 4-quart dish, layer potatoes, sauce, apples and sauce.
