  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • cinnamon - 1/4 tsp
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • cornstarch - 2 Tbsp
  • nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
  • boiling water - 1 c
  • dash of salt - 1 item
  • raisins - 1/2 c
  • margarine - 2 Tbsp
  • hot water - 1 c
  • eggs, slightly beaten - 2 item
  • canned milk - 1 c
  • to 6 slices bread - 4 item

How to make bread pudding:

Sauce:1/2 c. sugar2 Tbsp. cornstarch dash of salt1 c. hot water2 Tbsp. margarine1 Tbsp. vanilla Place bread in baking dish (buttered). Sprinkle raisins over bread. Beat eggs, 1/2 cup sugar, salt, milk, water and vanilla; pour over bread. Let stand 10 minutes. Mix 3 tablespoons sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg; sprinkle over mixture in pan. Bake in a preheated 350° oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until knife comes out clean.

Sauce: Combine cornstarch, sugar, salt and 1 cup hot water. Cook over medium heat until mixture is clear and slightly thickened. Stir constantly; remove from heat. Stir in vanilla and butter; pour over cake while warm.
