Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- salt - 1 Tbsp
- flour - 7 9
- Crisco - 2/3 c
- warm water - 1/2 c
- egg, beaten - 1 item
- yeast - 2 pkg
- scalded milk - 2 c
How to make white bread:
Scald milk; add Crisco, sugar and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in warm water in large bowl. Add milk mixture and egg; add enough flour to make soft dough. Beat with mixer until dough looks elastic. By hand, add enough flour to make stiff dough. Knead until smooth. Put in greased bowl; turn and grease top. With kitchen fork, punch 8 holes in the dough. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 2 hours. Shape dough into 3 loaves. Brush tops with melted butter. Cover and let rise until doubled.
