White batter bread
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 Tbsp
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- sifted flour
- warm water - 1 c
- dry yeast - 2 pkg
- butter/oleo - 2 Tbsp
How to make white batter bread:
Scald milk; stir in sugar, salt and oleo (or butter). Cool to lukewarm. Measure warm water into large bowl; sprinkle in yeast and stir until dissolved. Add lukewarm milk mixture. Stir in flour; batter will be fairly stiff. Beat until well blended, about 2 minutes. Cover; let rise in warm place until double, about 40 minutes. Stir batter down real good; pour into 2 greased loaf pans (9 x 5 x 3-inch). Let rise until double, then bake at 350° for about 50 minutes.Recipe categories: Breads, Lunch/snacks, Yeast breads.
