Walnut coffee cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- sifted flour - 2 c
- melted butter, cooled - 2/3 c
- ground walnuts - 1/3 c
- light brown sugar, sifted - 3 Tbsp
How to make walnut coffee cake:
Sift dry ingredients. Beat egg, buttermilk, butter and vanilla. Add flour mixture, beating until smooth. Butter well a 2 1/2-quart tube pan. Coat with a mixture of 1/3 cup ground walnuts and 3 tablespoons of sifted light brown sugar. Pour batter in prepared pan. Bake at 350° for approximately 1 hour. Let cake cool in pan 10 minutes and then turn out onto a wire rack and let cool completely. Serves 12.Recipe categories: Breads, Breakfast, Coffee cakes.
