Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/3 c
- cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- chopped pecans - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- brown sugar - 1/2 c
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- sifted flour - 2 c
- whipped cream - 1 item
- lemon juice - 2 Tbsp
- medium apples, pared and sliced - 3 item
How to make apple upside-down cake:
In a 9 x 9-inch pan, melt 2 tablespoons butter. Spread 1/2 cup brown sugar in bottom of pan. Sprinkle with pecans and arrange apple slices on top. Cover with lemon juice and set aside. Cream 1/2 cup butter and remaining sugars until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Sift together remaining dry ingredients. Add alternately with milk. Spread batter over apples. Bake at 375° for 45 minutes. Place on cooling rack 10 minutes, then turn upside-down on plate and top with whipped cream.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, Apple.
