Ingredients/Components

  • medium onion, chopped - 1 item
  • large cloves garlic, chopped - 2 item
  • oil - 1 Tbsp
  • vodka - 1/2 c
  • can crushed tomatoes - 28 oz
  • salt and pepper - 1 item
  • parsley, oregano and basil - 1 item
  • heavy cream - 3/4 c

How to make vodka sauce for pasta:

Heat the oil in a medium saucepan. Brown onion and garlic in hot oil; add vodka and boil for about 5 minutes. Add tomatoes and spices to taste and simmer for about 30 minutes. Add cream immediately prior to serving. Heat through but do not bring to boil. Serve with tube shaped pasta such as ziti or rigatoni.

Hint: Adding a few sun-dried tomatoes enhances the flavor of the sauce.
