Upside-down pear gingerbread cake
Ingredients/Components
- vanilla ice cream - 1 item
- butter - 1/4 c
- firmly packed light brown sugar - 1/2 c
- gingerbread mix - 1 pkg
- orange or lemon juice - 1 item
- finely chopped maraschino cherries - 2 Tbsp
- thinly sliced fresh pears - 2 c
How to make upside-down pear gingerbread cake:
Melt butter in an 8-inch square baking dish; stir in sugar. Sprinkle cherries over butter and sugar. Dip pear slices in juice to prevent darkening. Arrange pear slices in rows over cherries; set aside.Prepare gingerbread according to package directions. Pour over pears and bake according to package directions. Cool in pan on wire rack 5 minutes. Invert onto serving plate. Serve warm topped with vanilla ice cream.
