  • chocolate chips - 1 c
  • 1/2 sticks butter - 1 item
  • box German chocolate cake mix - 1 item
  • pecans optional - 2 c
  • evaporated milk Milnot - 1/2 c
  • bag caramels 35 individual - 1 lb

How to make turtle cake:

Unwrap caramels. Grease pan, no flour. Prepare cake mix according to directions on box. Pour 1/2 the batter into 9 x 13-inch pan and bake at 350° for 15 minutes.

While cake bakes, melt butter and caramels, then stir in milk, using saucepan, over low heat, stirring constantly. After the 15 minutes of baking, pour melted caramel over cake. Sprinkle one cup of nuts and one cup of chocolate chips, then pour remaining batter over filling. Sprinkle with remaining nuts and bake for 20 minutes longer.
