Toffee bars
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- butter or margarine - 1 c
- sifted flour - 2 c
- finely chopped walnuts - 1/2 c
- egg yolk - 1 item
- egg white - 1 item
How to make toffee bars:
Cream together margarine and sugar. Add flour, egg yolk and vanilla, beating well. Spread evenly in greased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch jelly roll pan. Brush top with egg white. Sprinkle with walnuts. Bake at 275° for 1 hour and 25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven. Cut into bars immediately and cool on wire rack. Store, tightly covered, at least 3 days before serving.
