  • sugar - 2 c
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • milk - 6 Tbsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • water - 1 c
  • cocoa - 5 Tbsp
  • buttermilk - 1/2 c
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • powdered sugar - 1 lb
  • eggs, lightly beaten - 2 item
  • sticks oleo - 2 item
  • nuts if wanted - 1 item
  • Heat oven to 400°

How to make texas sheet cake:

Grease and flour 10 x 15 x 1-inch jelly roll pan. Heat oven to 400°.

In large mixing bowl, combine flour and sugar. In large pan, put oleo, cocoa and water. Heat to boil. Stir well. In medium bowl, beat eggs. Stir soda into buttermilk; add to eggs along with vanilla. Add this buttermilk mixture to flour-cocoa combination; mix well. Bake about 25 minutes or until done. Five minutes before cake is done, make icing.Icing:1 stick oleo6 Tbsp. milk3 Tbsp. cocoa1 lb. powdered sugar vanilla nuts (if wanted) Heat oleo, milk and cocoa to boiling. Stir well. Then add powdered sugar, vanilla and nuts. Mix well. Pour hot over hot cake. Makes 24 servings.
