  • sugar - 2 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • milk - 1/4 c
  • flour - 2 c
  • stick margarine - 1 item
  • cocoa - 1/4 c
  • buttermilk - 1/2 c
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • powdered sugar
  • Frosting:1 stick margarine
  • coffee or water - 1 c

How to make texas brownies:

Frosting:1 stick margarine3 1/2 c. powdered sugar1 tsp. vanilla2 Tbsp. cocoa1/4 c. milk In a large bowl, combine flour and sugar. In heavy saucepan, combine butter, shortening, coffee or water and cocoa. Stir to boiling. Pour boiling mixture over flour and sugar in bowl. Add baking soda, buttermilk, eggs and vanilla. Mix well. Use electric mixer. Pour into buttered 17 1/2 x 11-inch pan. Bake at 400° for 20 minutes until tests done in center.

Frosting: In saucepan, combine butter, cocoa and milk. Heat to boiling, stirring. Mix in powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Pour warm frosting over brownies as soon as you take them out of the oven.
