Ingredients/Components
- flour - 2 c
- sugar - 2 c
- stick margarine - 1 item
- shortening - 1/2 c
- strong brewed coffee or water - 1 c
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- cocoa - 1/4 c
- eggs - 2 item
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- In saucepan, combine 1 stick of margarine, shortening, coffee or water and cocoa
- milk - 1/4 c
- powdered sugar - 1 item
How to make texas brownies:
In large mixing bowl, combine flour and sugar. In saucepan, combine 1 stick of margarine, shortening, coffee or water and cocoa. Stir and heat to boiling. Pour boiling mixture over flour and sugar in bowl. Add buttermilk, eggs, baking soda and vanilla; mix well. Pour into a well-greased 17 1/2 x 11-inch jelly roll pan. Bake at 400° for 20 minutes, or until test done in center. While brownies bake, prepare frosting.Frosting:1 stick margarine2 Tbsp. cocoa1/4 c. milk powdered sugar vanilla In saucepan, combine the margarine, cocoa and milk; heat to boiling while stirring. Mix in powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth. Pour warm frosting over brownies as soon as removed from oven. Cool; cut into 48 bars.Recipe categories: Cookie and brownie, Bar cookie, Brownies.
