  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • milk - 1/3 c
  • sour cream - 1 item
  • oil - 1 tsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • chili powder - 2 tsp
  • can tomato sauce - 1 oz
  • chopped green pepper - 1/2 c
  • shredded Cheddar cheese - 1 c
  • ground cumin
  • yellow cornmeal
  • minced garlic - 1 tsp
  • cayenne pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • Pace picante sauce - 1 item
  • finely chopped jalapeno pepper - 1 tsp
  • corn, drained - 1 c
  • Stir in cheese, milk, egg and oil

How to make tamale pie:

Crust:1 c. yellow cornmeal1 tsp. sugar1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese1/3 c. milk1 egg1 tsp. oil Combine cornmeal and sugar. Stir in cheese, milk, egg and oil. Stir just until moistened. Press mixture on bottom and up sides of a 9-inch greased pie plate.Filling:1/2 lb. lean ground beef or turkey1/2 c. chopped green pepper1/2 c. chopped onion1 tsp. minced garlic1 tsp. finely chopped jalapeno pepper1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce1 c. corn, drained2 tsp. chili powder1 1/2 tsp. ground cumin1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper In skillet, cook beef or turkey, green pepper, onion, garlic and jalapeno pepper until beef is no longer pink. Drain. Stir in tomato sauce, corn, chili powder, cumin and cayenne pepper. Gently spoon beef mixture into crust. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle with Cheddar cheese. Return to oven until cheese melts. Serve with sour cream and picante sauce.
