  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 1/2 c
  • Crisco - 1/2 c
  • black pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • sliced onions - 1/2 c
  • canned tomatoes, crushed
  • round steak - 2 lb
  • cut green pepper - 1/2 c

How to make swiss steak:

Rub beef with seasoned flour or pound into steak with meat hammer. Brown meat, onions and pepper in Crisco in heavy skillet or Dutch oven. Add tomatoes. Cover and cook over low heat until steak is tender (about 45 minutes).
