Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1/2 c
- Crisco - 2 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/2 tsp
- minced onion - 1/2 c
- can tomatoes - 1 oz
- minced bell pepper - 1/4 c
- round steak, cut 1-inch thick - 2 lb
How to make swiss steak:
Mix flour, salt and pepper. Sprinkle one side of meat with 1/2 of flour and pound in. Turn meat and repeat with remaining flour. Cut meat into 6 pieces. Brown meat in Crisco in heavy skillet. Cover tightly and simmer about 1 hour. Add water, if needed. Mix remaining ingredients. Pour over meat. Cover and simmer about 30 minutes or until tender.
