Sweet pickles
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 6 c
- salt - 2 c
- water - 1 gal
- vinegar - 1 pt
- allspice - 2 Tbsp
- alum - 4 5
- cut up cucumbers - 2 gal
How to make sweet pickles:
Add two cups salt to 1 gallon of water. Bring to a boil. Pour over cucumbers. Let stand for 7 days. Rinse well. Pour clear boiling water over cucumbers. Let stand for 1 day; drain.
