Sweet and sour pork
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 1/4 c
- brown sugar - 1/4 c
- cornstarch
- water - 1/2 c
- vinegar - 1/4 c
- soy sauce - 1 Tbsp
- small onion, sliced thin - 1 item
- 4 1/2 oz - 1 lb
- drippings - 1/4 Tbsp
- lean pork shoulder, cut into 2 x 1/2-inch strips - 2 lb
- green bell pepper, cut in julienne strips - 1 item
How to make sweet and sour pork:
Dredge meat in seasoned flour and brown well in drippings. Add water; cover pan and simmer for an hour. Combine cornstarch and sugar. Add vinegar, soy sauce and juice drained from pineapple. Cook on low heat, stirring constantly until mixture is thick and clear. Pour sauce over meat. Add pineapple, green pepper and onion. Heat through. Serve over cooked noodles or rice.
